Peggy and I celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary on May 31st. I can remember when I couldn't imagine people living that long, much less anyone being married that long. She is still my sweetie, as well as my best friend.
Talked with DEBRA HILL, cowgirl poet and lyricist, on 6/2. She is still recovering from a couple of surgeries during the last few months. And she just found out last week she will have to go back in for some tests. Her husband, David, is having health problems from what doctors think may be a form of muscular dystrophy. If you get a minute, drop them a card or note at: Rt. 2, Box 3800, Chelsea, OK 74016. You can read her poetry in the DIRECTORY.
Haven been able to catch PEGGY COLEMAN on the phone, but her son_in_law told me she is now able to be back in her own home, but cannot put any weight on her broken right leg. So she is still dependent on friends, neighbors and church folks to help her out. She is spending nights at a friend's house, in case she should fall. You can drop her a note at: P.O. Box 122, Pawnee, OK 74058. Or e_mail her at: peggycole@webtv.net.
MOVIE PIC OF THE MONTH: Hey, gang, we went to the movies recently and saw "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" We both thought it was a great movie. Lots of laughs, twists and turns, and some great bluegrass/gospel music. It is set in the 20's in Mississippi as three convicts escape from a chain gang and, after some wild times, back their way into having a hit recording. Try it, I bet you'll like it (supposed to be out in video stores in late June).
ORGANIZATIONAL WEB SITE OF THE MONTH: The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK. http://www.nationalcowboymuseum.org If you haven't visited here in the last couple of years, you absolutely would not recognize it. This is a "must see" stop for all lovers of the America West. And, just a few years away, we will also have in Oklahoma City a Smithsonian museum of the American Indian. Y'all come, ya hear?
INDIVIDUAL WEB SITE OF THE MONTH: Take a ride through friend and fellow cowboy poet David Kelley's home range on the internet. You'll find it at: http://bardk.tripod.com/index.html
Well, that's about it for this month. Hope to see each of you down the trail.
Vaya con dios,
Stan Paregien
