Howdy Everyone,

RECENT ADDITIONS/REVISIONS: John Bearry, Wendy Bearry, Ed Carpenter, Nona Kelly Carver, Lyn DeNaeyer-Messersmith, Duane Dickenson, Morgan Fairchild, Curley Fletcher, Scott Glenn, Gail I. Gardner, Rudy Gonzales, Mike Gross, Dick Hart, Terry Henderson, Jeff Hildebrandt, Dutis Majors, Lyle Newman, Oklahoma Company Cowboys, Palo Duro, Jeff Streeby, Omar West.

ORGANIZATIONAL WEB SITE OF THE MONTH: Sipokni West ( http://www.sipokniwest.com ). Okay, so you're probably never heard of the place. But you will. Johnny Shackelford and his crew have created an Old West village near the small town of Reagan, Oklahoma (in Johnston County, north of Tishomingo). They call it "Sipokni West," sipokni (si-poke-nee) being a Chickasaw Indian word for "old". They have constructed nine period buildings on the ranch, and next year will relocate to the ranch the cabin used by outlaw Belle Starr. A couple of film companies have already used the location, and many cowboy-type events are in the works.

INDIVIDUAL WEB SITE OF THE MONTH: Omar West's Cowboy Poetry at the Bar D Ranch . This gent has put together one of the best designed web sites around. Looks great and contains samples of cowboy poetry by Omar West and scores and scores of other writers.

THANKS: .........To Wesley & Marily Tuttle for including us in a "cowboy jam" at their home in San Fernando, CA. on August 5th. We enjoyed listening to music makers Belinda Gail, Wesley Tuttle, Eddie Villalobos, Christina Ortega and Mike Tcherkassky

To Rusty Hudelson for mentioning our COWBOY DIRECTORY in his own newsletter. Check out his musical offerings at: http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/154/rusty_hudelson.html .

To Rudy Gonzales for linking his site to our's. ....... We sure do 'preciate it when folks like Rusty & Rudy help spread the word about the COWBOY DIRECTORY. We'd be happy to exchange links with your cowboy web site, too.

LOOKING AHEAD: I will be performing at the National Cowboy Symposium in Lubbock, Texas (at the Civic Center) on Sept. 7th & 8th. This will mark my 10th year at the Symposium . . . . . . . . . . . In late September and early October Peggy and I will spend a few days with Jerry & Muriel Paregien in Kingsport, Tenn., and then spend a few days on the beaches in the Tampa, Florida area. Tampa . . . , you know, . . . Tampa . . . where all those sharks were spotted a few weeks ago. . . . . .

THIS MONTH'S JOKE: My friend Clarence Johnson sent this philosophical question for all you organic chemist cowboys: If "H" is hydrogen and "I" is iodine and "O" is oxygen and Ag is silver, how do you pronounce HIOAg? Think about it.

OKAY, NOW THE ANSWER: No chemistry knowledge is needed for this one, right? It's "Hi-O Silver!"

SOMETHING TO CONSIDER: "An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips" ( Proverbs 24:26).

ONE FAVOR, PLEASE: There are lots of folks out there who love the Western way of life. You could do them and us a big favor by forwarding this newsletter to a dozen or more of your cowboy pards. Muchas gracias, y'all.

Well, that's about it for this month. Hope to see each of you down the trail.

Vaya con dios,

Stan Paregien (aka: Tex Mexx)
