An Occasional Newsletter - ISSUE # 10 - August 6, 2003

Howdy Everyone,

The big news is this: the Directory has a new name and a new address, and I have a new email address.

“Stan Paregien's Cowboy Directory” is now "CowboyDirectory.Com," and is located at that web site address. I spent the better part of three months revising the hundreds of pages in the Directory to provide a better look and quicker access, as well as a name that would not only be easier to remember but would correspond to the web location. As you cruise through it, please drop me a line if you spot any irregularities or misinformation.

My apologies to all of you who emailed me in recent weeks, as I have gotten way behind in answering them. I will start digging my way out of the email hole I’m in real soon. By the way, please change my email address to: stan@cowboydirectory.com

On Aug. 15 a new Western movie will debut nationwide. That is "Open Range" starring Kevin Costner and my personal favorite actor Robert Duvall. I strongly encourage each of you to go to a theatre and see this film in the first week or two of release, to support this genre.

Tom Berenger plays Federal Marshal Jared Stone in a new Western TV series that debuted on the USA network on July 30. It is called, “Peacemakers”. Eight additional shows are currently scheduled.

Sadly, we report the deaths of Bob Hope (movies Paleface; and Son of Paleface), Gregory Peck and Kathryn Hepburn (True Grit, etc).

And we have this urgent note from our pals Will & Rhonda Stearns of Newcastle, Wyoming. Someone they know is offering a $1,000 reward for the return of five (5) stolen saddles. The fenders of the respective saddles bare these markings: (1) Turquoise Circuit Steer Wrestling Champion 1984 ; (2) Turquoise Circuit Steer Wrestling Champion 1993; (3) Silver and Saddle Roping Champion 1989; (4) King’s Saddlery - corner stamped roping saddle; (5) Crates Roping Saddle. In addition, a breast collar was stolen with identifying silver plates reading “PRCA Runner-Up Steer Wrestling Horse of the Year 1995". They also lost numerous headstalls, bridles and bits in the theft. If you have any information, call the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department at 520-866-6800.
