Arthur Kennedy

Arthur Kennedy, actor, was born John Arthur Kennedy on February 17, 1914 in Sorcester, Mass.Kennedy won a Tony Award for his role on Broadway as in "Death of a Salesman." His acting career lasted an amazing fifty years, running from 1940 to 1990. He played in some 86 movies.
Arthur Kennedy's Western movies included Day of the Evil Gun (1968), Nevada Smith (1966), Joaquín Murrieta (1965), Cheyenne Autumn (1964), Elmer Gantry (1960), The Rawhide Years (1956), The Man from Laramie (1955), Bend of the River (1952), Cheyenne (1947), The Sundance Kid (1947), They Died with Their Boots On (1941), High Sierra (1941) and Bad Men of Missouri (1941).
Arthur Kennedy died of a brain tumor on Jan. 5, 1990 at Branford, Conn. His remains were buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lequille, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Burt Kennedy

Burt Kennedy, screenwriter and director, was born Sept. 3, 1922 in Muskegon, Mich. His parents worked in vaudville and he was part of their show called, 'The Dancing Kennedys".He served in the military during World War II and was highly decorated.
After his discharge, he tried his hand at acting by joining the prestigious Pasadena Community Playhouse in Pasadena, CA. But he was kicked out for missing rehearsals.
However, he bounced right back and soon landed a job writing radio scripts. And then John Wayne's production company, Batjac, hired him to write scripts for them.
In 1960, Burt Kennedy got his first job as a film director. Then he moved to TV where he wrote and directed episodes of '"Lawman" (1958)" and '"The Virginian" (1962).
Burt Kennedy directed some 41 movies, mostly Westerns such as "The Rounders, " "The War Wagon," and "Support Your Local Sheriff". Burt Kennedy's films and screenplays symbolize a two-fisted Hollywood in its prime. He rode with 'em all: Clint Eastwood, John Wayne, James Garner and many others. He also wrote the screenplays for some 26 movies.
Burt Kennedy died of cancer on Feb. 15, 2001 at his home in Sherman Oaks, CA.

George Kennedy

George Kennedy, actor, was born on Feb. 18, 1925 in New York City. He began his career on stage and radio as a child.George Kennedy is perhaps best-known for his 1988–91 role as Carter McKay on the nighttime TV soap, "Dallas". He won an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor in the movie Cool Hand Luke (1967). He has played in some 113 movies since 1961.
George Kennedy's Western movies include The Gunfighters (1987, TV), The Gambler, Part III: The Legend Continues (1987, TV), A Rare Breed (1981), A Cry in the Wilderness (1974, TV), Cahill: United States Marshal (1973), The Bull of the West (1971, TV), Dirty Dingus Magee (1970), The Good Guys and the Bad Guys (1969), Guns of the Magnificent Seven (1969), Bandolero! (1968), The Ballad of Josie Wales (1967), The Sons of Katie Elder (1965), Gunfight in Black Horse Canyon (1961, TV).
George Kennedy's Western TV credits include "Gunsmoke" and "Have Gun Travel"
George Kennedy is a computer buff and a highly-accomplished graphics artist. He has written two mystery novels - "Murder on Location" and "Murder on High".

Barbara A. Ketcham

Barbara Ketcham served as chairperson of the 1987 Western Writers of America Convention in Sheridan. And she served as secretary-treasurer of the WWA for several years. She was the author of over 50 articles in such magazines as True West, The Rotarian, Women's Day, Farm Wife News, Empire (Denver Post), The Exceptional Parent, Montana Magazine, Old West, and North Dakota Horizons.Barbara Ketcham became a full-time writer on May 29, 1987, and sold her first children's book, Animals With Freckles, to Kaleidoscopix Press of Massachusetts.
KG and the Ranger
Husband and wife team, Karen Gogolick and Rick Roltgen, perform Western music as "KG and the Ranger". She being the "KG" and he being "The Ranger".
They love to entertain folks with songs from the days of the Silver Screen Singing Cowboys -- Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and Rex Allen. The dynamic duo also includes western swing songs, traditional trail songs and modern compositions about cowboys.They sing and yodel, and he plays the guitar and does rope tricks.
Karen Gogolick and Rick Roltgen first met while playing for a community barn dance. In 1989 they discovered a mutual fascination with the cowboy songs of the 1930s and 40s, and they formed their husband and wife Western Music duo, "KG and The Ranger".

KG and The Ranger are members of the Western Music Association. They have been bringing the Old West to the Midwest at festivals, county fairs, art fairs, coffeehouses, senior centers, elderhostels and private parties. In 1999 they became the Western Music Association's Harmony Yodeling Champions. In 1996, 1997 and 1998 they were nominated by the Academy of Western Artists for awards in the categories of best Western Music duo/group and Rising Stars.
Their performances have included opening for The Riders in The Sky, Don Edwards and Waddie Mitchell; the National Festival of the West in Phoenix Az.; the Santa Clarita Cowboy Music and Poetry Festival, in CA.; Buffalo Bill's Resort in Las Vegas; many other cowboy festivals, Wild West Days and folk festivals throughout the Midwest and the Southwest.

Richard Kiley

Richard Kiley, actor and singer, was born to Leo and Leonore Riley on March 31, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois.
He graduated from Loyola University in 1940. World War II broke out late in 1941. He joined the U.S. Navy and served in one tour of duty.
Kiley was a consumate working actor with a marvelously resonate voice. His acting awards included being inucted into the Theatre Hall of Fame (1999) and winning three Emmys, two Tonys (for his stage work), three Golden Globes, one Perry, one Theatre World Award and one National Image Award. He was also an accomplished singer, performing in such plays as "Man of La Macha".
Often, the actor could be heard rather than seen, employing his sonorous baritone as a narrator. For instance. Kiley could be heard as the tour voice in "Jurassic Park" (1993) and in numerous TV commercials. He also provided the narration for documentary programming, including "National Geographic Specials", "Nova", "Planet Earth" as well as hundreds of nature, historical, and informative specials and reality shows on public television, broadcast networks, and cable channels (e.g., The Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel).
Richard Kiley's Western credits included guest appearances on such TV shows as "How the West Was Won," "The Macahans," "Gunsmoke," and "Bonanza". He also appeared in the made-for-TV movie, "Gunsmoke: The Last Apache" (1990).
Richard Kiley died of bone marrow disease on March 5, 1999 at Warwick, New York. He was 76.
