Ralph Owen Moody

Ralph Owen Moody was born Dec. 16, 1898, in Rochester, New Hampshire. He did not start writing until he was 50 years of age. But but did quite well with such nonfiction books as Little Britches (1950), Man of the Family (1951), The Home Ranch (1956), Riders of the Pony Express (1958, Wells Fargo (1961), The Old Trails West (1963) and Stage Coach West. Much of his material was based on his own personal experiences.

Ralph Owen Moody, a long-time California resident, came down with cancer and spent the last year of his life in the home of his daughter in Shirley, Massachusetts. He died on June 20, 1982. See his photo in the Sept, 1955 issue of The Roundup.


Clayton Moore

Clayton Moore is/was the Lone Ranger. Period. End of story.

Well, okay, there is much more to be said about him. But for at least two generations of fans, there never was and never will be a better Lone Ranger than Clayton Moore.

Clayton Moore was born on September 14, 1914. He died of a heart attack on December 28, 1999. His remains are interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery (Everlasting Peace, Lot 5492) in Glendale, CA.

Dr. Joe Moore is a college professor by trade. But he is also known as a writer, lecturer and storyteller. He often goes by "Doc Moore".

Doc is a popular performer throughout Texas. As "The Old Texan," he performs a wide repertory of stories ranging from traditional "Jack" tales to Texas history vignettes. His programs include "Tales the Pioneers Told," "Tales from Texas History," "Southwest Legends," "The Circuit Riding Preacher," and "Texas Ghost Stories".

Lucia Wilkins Moore

Lucia Wilkins Moore was born as Lucia Wilkins in Eugene, Oregon in 1887. She graduated from the University of Oregon. She married Dr. Clayton Moore and traveled with him throughout the world during his career as a military physician. After his retirement, they returned to Eugene where he died in 1964. Her father served as the mayor of Eugene. And she and two sisters were co-authors of The Story of Eugene, a book documenting the history of the city and its early-day leaders,published in 1949.

Lucia Wilkins Moore's first novel, The Wheel and the Hearth, won a 1953 Spur Award from WWA. She also published a book of poetry. She was a member of WWA and was a life member of the National League of American Pen Women. (See her photo in the April, 1957 issue of The Roundup.)
