Jack Nicholson

Jack Nicholson, actor, was born John Joseph Nicholson on April 22, 1937 in Neptune, NJ. He appeared in several low budget films in the 1960's. His first big hit, also with a low-budget film, was in "Easy Rider" in 1969. He went on to make such notable films as "Five Easy Pieces," "Chinatown," "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (Academy Award for Best Actor), "Batman," and a second Academy Award for "Terms of Endearment" ('83). He also won an Oscar for "As Good As It Gets". (He was paid a staggering $60 million for his work in Batman).

His Western credits include "The Missouri Breaks (1978)" (he received a salary of $1.25 million, plus 10% of the box office receipts), The Broken Land (1962). He starred and directed Going South (1978), starred and produced and wrote the script for Ride in the Whirlwind (1965), and produced The Shooting (1967).

Thomas P. Nicholson


Thomas P. Nicholson has written four books published by Books in Motion, two of which--Ride the Red Sun Down, and Rebel Doctor, are westerns. He is a retired U.S. Army Colonel and a registered professional engineer.


Charles Niehuis

Charles Niehuis, known by some as "Gut Wagon Charley," made his first writing sales in the 1930's. He has written for Saga, Argosy, True, and Better Homes & Gardens. He is the author of three juvenile novels, including Trapping the Silver Beaver, a book which won a Spur from WWA and also was a Junior Literary Guild Selection. He has been a freelancer for more than 50 years.


Leslie Nielsen

Leslie Nielsen, actor, was born in Regina, Sask., Canada on Feb. 11, 1926. He was raised in Fort Norman in the Yukon, where his father was a Royal Canadian Mountie. One of his two brothers became the deputy prime minister of Canada.

After graduation, he served as an aerial gunner in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Leslie made his entry into show business in a Calgary radio station where he worked as an engineer, disc jockey and announcer. He then studied acting at Lorne Greene's Academy of Radio Arts in Toronto, where he received a scholarship to the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City.

His television career began in 1950 with a "Studio One" appearance with Charlton Heston, and he went on to act in 46 live programs that year in the very heart of what has become known as TV's Golden Age.

He made many, many dramatic films before he found his niche, late in life, in comedy. He starred in "Airplane!" (1980), "Police Squad" (1988), "The Naked Gun" (1991 and its sequels), "Dracula--Dead and Loving It" and "Mr. Magoo".

The Western movies in which Leslie Nielsen appeared included "The Sheepman" (1958), "Gunfight in Abilene" (1967) and "Four Rode Out" (1969). He also appeared in such TV Western shows as "Gunsmoke," "The Virginian," "Cimarron Strip," "Bonanza," "The Big Valley," "The Wild, Wild West," "Wagon Train," and "Rawhide".

Nielsen periodically tours with his one-man show on the life of famed attorney, Clarenc Darrow.

Jerry Nine


Jerry Nine was reared on ranches in the Oklahoma panhandle near Laverne. Jerry Nine writes and recites his own original poetry and humorous material. He is a cattle buyer by profession, but spends much of his time sharing his insights on cowboy life with others. He is the author of Chasing Cowgirls and Dipping Snuff (1990).
